• Q: What are the benefits of employing a contractor?

• Q: How do I create a new Avantgate Hosting account?
  A: Go to the hosting page, click 'subscribe', and Avantgate will confirm you new account by email.
• Q: How do I access my webmail?
  A: Go to http://webmail.yoursite.com, use your email address for a username, and type in your email password.
• Q: How do I get website statistics?
  A: Login into your Avantgate account at http://www.yoursite.com:8443. Enter your Avantgate username and password. Keep this very safe, as all changes to your hosting and website use this information. If you don't have this information simply email. Click 'Home' on the left-hand side. Choose the domain name you would like information for. Click 'Report'. If you want more detailed statistics click 'Web Stats'. Enter your FTP username and password for the domain you have chosen. The detailed statistics will now appear in a separate window.
• Q: How do I add my new mailbox to MS Outlook?
  A: Open Outlook and click 'Tools', then 'Email Accounts'. Choose 'Add a new e-mail account' and click 'Next'. Choose 'POP3' and click 'Next'. Type in the name and email you would like to appear when people receive your mail. Your username is the same as your email address. The incoming mail server is yourdomain.com. For example, the Avantgate mail server would be avantgate.com. The outgoing mail server is determined by your ISP (Internet Service Provider, like Xtra or Ihug). For example, Xtra's outgoing mail server is smtp.xtra.co.nz. You can test whether your settings are correct by clicking 'Test Account Settings'. If everything is okay click 'Next' and 'Finish', if not please contact us.
• Q: Can I run CGI scripts on my website?
  A: Yes, there is a CGI bin provided. You will see it if you login to your site via FTP. Bad scripts that cause problems on the Avantgate server will result in script permissions being revoked.
• Q: Do Avantgate support ColdFusion in their hosting?
  A: Yes we do have support for ColdFusion in our hosting.
• Q: I'm not a web designer, but I would like to be able to make small changes to my website now and then to keep it up-to-date, am I able to do this?
  A: Yes, Avantgate recommend using Adobe Contribute to make these changes. It is a powerful yet easy to use program. Contact us to find out more.
